Thank you for your interest in the University of Oregon, Master of Accounting degree program (the MAcc). The University of Oregon, a member of the exclusive Association of American Universities, is located in the city of Eugene in the Willamette Valley in our beautiful state of Oregon. The Lundquist College of Business (LCB) and the Accounting department are both accredited by the American Association of Colleges and Schools of Business (AACSB).
The MAcc program is designed to be a transforming experience. Right from the start, the faculty and staff of the Lundquist College of Business (LCB) endeavor to provide personalized service and care for the MAcc student. While we have carefully crafted required courses including Accounting Measurement and Disclosure, Advanced Assurance Services, and Decision Support Systems, which provide students with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of these foundational aspects of accounting, the program also provides considerable flexibility in electives, both within the Lundquist College of Business and in the University.
Some of the electives students choose include courses in the nationally recognized Warsaw Center for Sports Marketing, the LCB Finance department which has been recognized recently for its research in Mutual Funds, the LCB Marketing department, recently ranked no. 1 nationally for the impact of its research, and the Center for Entrepreneurship. Many of the required and elective courses are taken with LCB MBA students. This interaction is an enriching experience for both the MAccs and the MBAs.
Prior to the start of class each fall term, a two and one-half day orientation is held. Leadership and team building, interviewing and recruiting skills and an introduction to the rigors of graduate school are the topics included in the orientation. One goal of the orientation is to jump start the development of working relationships and friendships, both of which are necessary for a successful year in the MAcc. Students also begin to form acquaintances with members of the business community during this event.
In addition to academic training, the Developing the Business Professional course is designed to help students to think preemptively about issues they will encounter in their work environment including business etiquette and maintaining and encouraging a motivating and positive work environment.
The Lundquist College of Business moved into the environmentally leading edge Lillis Business Complex during the fall term, 2003. The classrooms are equipped with top-notch technology. Plentiful meeting spaces are available throughout the facility as well as computer laboratory facilities. The Lillis Cafe provides a comfortable spot to join classmates and friends for a break between classes. MAcc students regularly meet and work together in the Anstett Family Accounting Learning Center.
